SYNTHPOP

Synthpop is a genre which, like new wave, appeared in the late 1970s. The name is pretty self-explanatory: synth for the main instrument, and pop because synthpop comes from pop. No need to give a too long description because you will easily understand it, the general atmosphere is a rather electronic atmosphere (synth, rhythm machine and sequencers), the lyrics deal with a positive or light subject, such as romance, which goes with the vibe of the genre.

Synthpop can sometimes seem very close to new wave: New Order, Depeche Mode (their first album especially), OMD, Erasure, ..., can be described as synthpop artists. A great compilation of synthpop songs is BIPPP French Synthwave 1979-85.
