EDM

Late 70s

EDM stands for "Electronic Dance Music". In short, it basically describes music designed to be played in a nightclub and therefore is usually produced by DJs.

It is not a genre in itself, but rather a collection of different genres of electronic music made to be danced. For example, some say techno and house are part of EDM.
EDM emerged in the late 1970s with the advent of electronic music, but became very popular in the 2010s (and the 90s with acid house).
Websites like SoundClound are used by many EDM artists.
This genre is however quite controversial due to its commercialization which has impacted DJs in a bad way.
