DARK SYNTH

Late 10s

Darksynth is a genre that mostly emerged in the late 2010s. It sort of has a connection to synthwave, but the type of sound is generally quite different from that - although darksynth songs have been called synthwave for a while because of the lack of a more precise word.
The music is generally more brutal than synthwave, with almost an EDM edge. The main instruments are obviously a synthesizer and drum machines.

Some bands that could be related to darksynth are Perturbator and Carpenter Brut.
